The Stu Tote is my signature bag. It is named for my mate. I carry a Stu, I toss it in the washing machine when Sam’s Sippy Cup spills. It is big enough to really stuff it full, but small enough that it doesn’t get in the way. This is my most popular style. It is reversible for times when you don’t feel like declaring to the world that you are a Camp Follower. I turn mine inside out when I am flying or in what I consider a hostile environment, and my American status is best kept to myself. For those of you overseas, I am sure you know what I mean. I make this bag from a uniform top and the fabric of your choice. The sides and bottom of the bag are reinforced with Fast2Fuse, a fusible stabilizer. I batt the body of the bag with cotton batting and free hand quilt the layers together with my “Determined Meandering” technique. This bag has a cuff closure. It has a big double pocket inside the bag. I can embroider a quote into the straps of the bag. You can let me know what you would like to have embroidered or you can select one of my favorite quotes “I had cast my lot with a soldier and where he was, was home to me.” It was said by a Cavalry wife 200 years ago. I know a lot has changed since then, but the fundamental stays the same. The Stu Tote is machine washable, and the pockets on the front and inside the bag are fully functional.
Becky Messenger Bag $80 The Becky Messenger is made from the cargo pocket of the pants as well. My friend at FT Hood thought this one up. I taught her to make bags similar to mine, so if you are at Hood still give her a look. This bag has a big pocket inside, and wide messenger strap that goes across the chest. I really need to know how tall you are for this bag to fit comfortably. I am 5’1” and I like to use myself at the model. If you are one of those lucky ladies who can actually reach your top cabinets, let me know your height so I can make this a practical bag for you.
The Cathy is also made from the Cargo pocket of the pants. It has soft batted sides and a stiff bottom. This bag has several internal pockets. I like making the pockets inside fun….they are each quilted separately or lined with a coordinating fabric. For the most part these bags look great inside out too. I can put zippers on these bags, but that does negate the reversible quality. I originally made the Cathy for one of my BUNCO mates at Ft Hood. Her son was diabetic and she wanted a bag with a special pocket inside for his monitor. Then viola! The Cathy was born.
Molly Purse $75 The Molly Purse is my second most popular bag. It is made from the cargo pocket of the pants and fabric of your choice. Molly has an interior pocket. I loved the cargo pocket when I was in the Army. It is so practical fits lots of syringes, Motrin and little Normal Saline bottles. Well now that I don’t give IV push medicine, it fits extra lip balms, and (if we could get a signal) a cell phone. Molly is one of the best ladies I have ever met. She is ALWAYS a lady, she is there when you need her and she has the ability to make you feel like a grown up when you are around her. I am now putting a button closure on this bag if I make it shallow.
I am sure this is going to be one of my most popular bags. It is made from the uniform top, so all the patches get to go on it, but it is small. It hangs nicely from the bend of your arm or your shoulder. This bag is 4”wide and the flag fits nicely on the side. Great little bag. This one has been in my mind for ages, but I was so busy trying to fill orders I never got around to making it. Well one day “Amber” contacted me and told me she liked the Stu, but wanted something smaller. I was able to whip it up fairly quick, but was just so unhappy with how the sides were…I toiled and toiled. I hung it up on the door to my studio and left it there while I made about 8 Stus….then it hit me! Make the sides wider! It looks GREAT! Super bag.
I designed this bag for a lady after IM-ing with her. She wanted one that looked like a parachute. I use the lower leg of the pants for this one. I gather the bottom of the bag and use carabiners and 550 cord to make the strap. Great bag. I carry this one now inside my Stu Tote. If I need to leave Sam anywhere or Stu and I are going out on a Date Night, I grab this little bag out and am ready to go! I like to mix textures with this bag, so linen and cotton and the crazy rip-stop of the ACU works great. Very fun and contemporary bag.
This little envelope clutch fits just the essentials. It is fun and carefree. I use a bit of the sleeve and elbow to create it. A carefree flower detail is handsewn on with a standard issue uniform button.
This bag I named for my daughter. Very versatile little backpack. It goes well for kids aged 2 to 8. It is made from the lower leg of the pants and the straps are made from the waistband. I put a pocket on the outside and whatever patches you want to have on the bag. The straps are adjustable with the waist adjusters. Very fun little bag.
This backpack is made from the cargo pocket of the pants and the waste band. It is a larger bag than the Emma. It has a double pocket inside and closes with two buttons.
Bryant Diaper Changing Pad $20 My friend decided she needed a changing pad as lovely as her bag to change her son (for whom I named the pad). I made her a tiny quilt, and put a piece of 550 cord in the binding so it can be rolled up and stored at the bottom of the Stu tote bag. Then when diaper duty is over it makes a very unique wall hanging. These fluctuate in complexity…. Some I go nuts on, others are more simple.
These are scrappy little wallets, about 4"x8" unfolded. 4"x4" folded. The are held closed by a little bungee elasitc and a button, for quick assess to your ID card. They have 2 small slots for CC and IDs and Starbucks Coffee cards. And a big slot for your cash.
These are scrappy little wallets, made with the pieces of uniform I do not use in the main bag. Zippy wallets have a lining and are pretty darn cute.
I hand make each bag. A bit of my soul is poured into each bag I create. I use premium fabric from the leading designers of today. Each bag is a piece of functional art. A tiny tapestry of the fabric that makes up your life. I take my art seriously, and your delight in one of my products is foremost in my mind while I sew for you.
The Camp Follower Bags are made from your Hero’s uniform. I have named each bag for friends I have met over the years and some are named for ladies who thought up the design. I want these bags to be a celebration of your loved one and you. Him on the outside and you inside, Military with a feminine flare. I want these bags to be a reminder to you years from now about how strong you are and how you developed and coped during a time that is so challenging both mentally and physically. You are a Camp Follower. You go where he goes. From base to base, country to country your home is at his side.
